Big boys on the beach by SaNNaS Big boys on the beach by SaNNaS
My Zodd and his former best friend Ganzi (the only two TMs from Sundari kennel that's living in Sweden)!
Former, you ask?
Well, the two boys hadn't met in over one year so there were some questionmarks around them. Zodd growled a bit and Ganzi joined in and they almost ended up in a fight.
After separating them for some time, so they still could watch eachother, I set Zodd free and he went over to apologize. Yes, I swear it's true!
He went over and sank down on his frontlegs, in playful puppymode, wagging his tail until Ganzi dropped his guard.
Zodd was like: "So sorry my man, I didn't quite recognize you. Man did you grow up FAST!"
Ganzi was a bit skeptic at first, but soon they were all buddy buddy again :D
It was great to see!

Thank you :D This day was PERFECT! Zodd and Ganzi's breeder came to visit from Czech Republic and she wanted to see the beach and the baltic sea, so we went to this beach that stretches on for miles :D

Awwh, this reminds me so much of when we drove to pittsburgh to pick up our renter's dog, whom she got at our house, moved away and decided she no longer wanted.

It turned out that she'd locked the dog in the tiny bathroom of her apartment for hours, every day for months, and the poor girl was so badly socialized, she was afraid of us, let alone my boy, Nova, whom she had known and been best buddies with since she was eight weeks old.

When they re-met one another, Panda was showing teeth and barking with her hackles on end, and Nova was all tensed up like he wasn't quite sure what on earth was wrong with her.

I took them both by their leashes and walked them around the block, one on each side of me, and as soon as we got back to our starting point, Panda was bear-hugging Nova and licking his mouth and trying to cram her muzzle down his throat, with her ears all tilted back and that /full body/ wiggle.

It was the sweetest thing I've ever seen, I was so worried her foul excuse of an owner had permanently traumatized her from locking her up for hours on end like that (because "she chewed the furniture when she was left alone", god forbid you get a kennel and stop going out to parties half the day and all night, every night) but..I was so happy everything worked out, they even rode home together in the back seat. c:

By chance, did Zodd re-meet Ganzi, front-on and face to face, while one or both of them was on a leash? I've found that can be bad for introducing dogs in general, and that walking side by side or with a person in between them, and then letting them interact off-leash where you can still have full control over both dogs, is just a much better idea in general.
I've seen the same problem with dogs in parks, where one's on a leash and none of the others are, and the leashed one tenses up or even becomes aggressive-- it's like they feel like they can't get away if they were to want to, and act cornered and fearful because of it.
As for approaching from the front, that's usually not a good idea either, since that's how dogs challenge each other and how they come at one another when they're going to fight. xD

I'm so glad Zodd and his buddy are friends again, regardless. x)

Thanks for sharing this story! It's really lovely (well, except the part with the stupid former owner)!!

I actually didn't want Zodd and Ganzi to meet at first because both were on leash and we were in a place where Zodd feels quite at home. I wanted neutral grounds and free dogs, but we ended up letting them say hi anyway. Stupid mistake.
I've been around dogs for so long (as have Ganzi's owner) so I still can't understand why we went and did things that way.
But I'm glad everything worked out at last :D
