Stunning breed.
My dad's old dog Lucky who he rescued from a boat yard in Singapore when he lived there was a mongrel but after a few years we pieced together some of her breeding. She had black spots on her tongue which lead us to believe there was chow in her, but she had the same markings and curling tail as an elkhound - such strong willed breeds!
Great shot =D

Wow, that is a tale I'd love to hear more about! What a fitting name for your dad's dog :D

Well at the time I was...six I think? There are so many stories about Lucky, she was one hell of a character!

She was perhaps your once in a lifetime dog?
I know my Rocky was mine (my first dog) ^^

Well she was very unique and I certainly do miss her, but my two wee pups Chloe and Penny (who I actually grew up with at home) will always be the two I compare others to. They may have been Yorkies and small dogs are not what I want in the future, but they certainly did have the personalities of big dogs and I miss them dearly.
What was Rocky like? =) (you can continue this through note if you like to prevent us clogging your page with comment :XD: )

Rocky was a wonderful boy in evey possible way. He was the most beautiful dog I have ever seen, kind, clever, obedient and perfect with other humans and dogs. He was pure joy and understood what I was going to say beforeI even said it.
I go him as a rehoming dog at the age of two, I was 17 at the time and worked hard with him since he knew nothing when he came to live with us.
We became really tight and he always refused to go with anyone as long as I came along on the walk - if I held the leash he happily trotted along, if anyone else took it he stopped and refused to move, just looked at me or pulled towards me XD
This drove my sister mad!! :giggle:
Oh, he was such a wonderful dog and I love him so much. He passed away in december 2006. Here's his photo ---> [link]
I should really take the time to post more (=

I love this one so much. The pose and angle makes me think of Jack London's Call of the Wild - my first book I read that was not assigned, and probably my favorite book.
